Markus Zimmermann made his studies at the University of Bern and graduated as attorney-at-law in 1976. He began his career in a law firm and was later head of Court office in Berne. In 1980 he moved to the private industry when he joined an international telecommunications group with head offices in Switzerland and at its peak with 220 world-wide subsidiaries. For over 20 years Markus has been the General Counsel of this group of companies. In this position he has been responsible for many M&A transactions and his practice also included drafting and negotiating all kinds of complex commercial agreements. Further, he served as member or chairman in over 50 of the group's companies in Switzerland and abroad as well as in external boards of directors, e.g. of Schleuniger Holding AG.

In 2010, Markus Zimmermann founded primelegal.ch gmbh. His company has been advising various corporate and private clients on commercial issues arising in mergers, acquisitions and private equity. Reference projects are the start-ups Smixin AG, Joulia AG, Atizo AG and Wetras Wärmeverbund AG. Markus Zimmermann is currently member of the board of directors of Smixin AG and of PrivalTec AG as well as Chairman of Wetras Wärmeverbund AG and of Primeval Securities Limited.
